New Book and Exhibit, May 17 & 18!

Farley gets ready for story time!!
Super exciting news!!:
Late last night I received my first delivery of my new Floyd book, Floyd and the Sparkling Seashell!  It will be the perfect book for beach reading this summer and I hope everyone loves it as much as I do!

And this weekend is the 55th Annual Acushnet Art Week Show on May 17 and 18, 2014.
I am this year's featured guest artist which means you'll see my original illustrations on exhibit for the FIRST TIME EVER. Special thanks to Dianna Couto and the Acushnet Art Show Committee for inviting me to be a part of this event, and for all of the hard work they do for the artists of Acushnet every year!

And there's more... I will be signing and selling books at the show on Sunday the 18th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. To make this show extra-special, the award-winning art works from the F.M.S. Festival of the Arts by my students will be on display, too. For more info about show times, see the Acushnet Art Show blog.

Hope to see everyone there!

Showtime!

Spring vacation has come and gone and I spent most of it a) recovering from what I'm pretty sure was The Black Plague and b) getting stuff ready for upcoming art shows.

First, my middle school student show is coming up on May 8, 2014 from 6:30-8 p.m. The annual F.M.S. Festival of the Arts will be a fantastic event as always and you can read more about it on Facebook Events or on my teacher web site. It is FREE and you will enjoy lots of art, music, photography, books, and more!

The second show on the books is the 55th Annual Acushnet Art Week Show on May 17 & 18 where you can see my original illustrations on exhibit for the FIRST TIME EVER. Usually, illustrations get scanned and used and then stashed away, so this was a lot of work to get everything (about 30 pieces) matted and framed and ready to hang. So that's how I spent my April vacation!

And there's more! ... I will be signing and selling books at the show on Sunday the 18th. As always, the award winning art works from the F.M.S. Festival of the Arts by my students will be on display, too. If you are an Acushnet resident and want to submit works for the juried show, or for more info about show times, see the Acushnet Art Show blog.

Here are some pics of the exhibit pieces ready to hang and starting to be packed. If you want to see them all, you've got to come by the show! Hope to see everyone there!

Seashell Sneak Preview!

Right now, my newest Floyd book is going through the final publishing stages and is due out in May. Hooray!

Would you like a sneak preview of the story? Of course you do!! Here is the official synopsis and some images from the story. Hopefully I'm not giving too much away -- do you think you can guess what happens?... Enjoy!

In Floyd and the Sparkling Seashell Floyd, Tiny, and Larue spend a day at the beach where a certain Sparkling Seashell catches Floyd's eye. He wants that beautiful shell, but he'll have to go into the ocean to get it. That’s not going to be easy, because Floyd is afraid of the water.

With Tiny and Larue's help, Floyd tries some clever ways to get that shell, but can these plans possibly work? Will the Sparkling Seashell ever be his? Can Floyd conquer his fear of the ocean and dive in?...
